The history, formal elements and the practice of typography will all be explored. Students will learn to look at type with more care, to appreciate the subtleties of the letterforms, to understand what makes a typeface good or bad, and most importantly, what to do with that information. The essential elements of typography’s building blocks will be explored and dissected. In short, the students will learn to make informed decisions about typefaces and crafting elegant typography. This course is aimed at people unfamiliar with typography, or ones who never fully grasped it before.
